What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a process that helps you access a calm, focused state of awareness. When your attention is directed inwards, real change can happen without force or overwhelm.

It’s not about being “under” or giving up control. In fact, you’ll feel more present, more in tune with yourself, and more able to make choices that align with who you really are. Think of it like tuning out the noise of the outside world, so you can finally hear your own inner voice.

In this state, we gently explore the subconscious; where your protective patterns, emotional responses, and deep-rooted beliefs live. Together, we can change the ones that no longer serve you, and make space for new ones that do.

What happens in a session?

You’ll be guided into a relaxed, focused state (kind of like a daydream) where we can bypass the overthinking mind and work directly with the deeper layers of your experience.

It’s completely safe, deeply calming, and tailored just for you.

Most clients say it feels like being wrapped in a soft blanket while gaining powerful insight.

What does Science say?

During hypnosis, your brain shifts into a slower, more focused state, often the theta or alpha brainwave state. In this state, the subconscious is more open to suggestion, which means we can gently update patterns that were once formed to protect you but may now be holding you back.

In other words: your mind becomes more flexible and open to healing without needing to force it. esearch from experts like Dr. David Spiegel at Stanford University shows that hypnotherapy can change how the brain processes emotion, memory, and even pain. Brain imaging studies reveal that under hypnosis:

  • You become more open to helpful suggestions

  • Self-critical thinking decreases

  • New connections form in areas linked to insight and change

  • People can experience meaningful shifts in perception, emotion, and even physical sensations

In short: it helps you shift the patterns you didn’t even realise were running the show, so you can start responding to life, instead of reacting from old wounds.

Hypnotherapy gently works with the subconscious, the part of you that holds your patterns, beliefs, and emotional memories.

Rather than just talking about what’s going on, it helps you shift what’s happening underneath, where the root of the problem often lives.

If you’re a Highly Sensitive Person or someone who’s experienced trauma, your nervous system might be in a constant state of alert. You might feel stuck in overthinking, emotional overwhelm, or exhaustion from always trying to “hold it all together."

Hypnotherapy can help by:

  • Calming the nervous system

  • Releasing old emotional patterns or beliefs that no longer serve you

  • Reconnecting you to a sense of inner safety and self-trust

  • Creating space between you and the noise of the world

  • Supporting healing from trauma in a gentle, non-invasive way

Hypnotherapy isn't about 'fixing' you. It's about guiding you to rediscover your strength, clarity, and confidence already within you. My approach is gentle, trauma-informed, and designed to support highly sensitive individuals without overwhelm or pressure. Together we work with your subconscious to create shifts in a way that feels natural and aligned with who you are.
